JobSeeker Payments Update

If you are looking for job and you are 22 old and getting Age pension due to COVID-19 situation. In addition, in case you are sick or injured and not able to do usual work or study for a short period of time. If you fulfill all above requirements, you are eligible for jobseeker payments.

There are some changes in payment from 25 September 2020 and it may be reduced then the previous payments.

According to ATO guidelines 27 April to 24 September 2020, Taxpayers will get $550 per fortnight once they meet the above requirements for JobSeeker payments.          

ATO provides some changes after 25 September 2020, if you still want JobSeeker payments; you need to fulfill all requirements as previously done before 24th September 2020.

The jobSeeker payment will be reduced from 25 September to 31 December 2020 and you will receive $250 per fortnight from ATO.

JobSeeker Payments

Jobseeker payment is one type of help which is provided by ATO for those individuals who face financial hardships and are looking for work as well.

But the Eligibility and accessibility is different for individuals and they need to meet basic requirements to seek jobseeker payments.

Eligibility and access:

The requirement for Jobkeeper payment and youth allowances criteria is different and it will continue to apply for it. For taxpayers, it will continue till 31 December 2020.

  • Company employees who lost their jobs and not receiving pay from their employer or through insurance.
  • If you are Sole trades, a self employed, casual employee or contractor, you need to pass income and asset tests.

In case if you are still receiving Jobseeker or Youth Allowance payments you can earn $300 per fortnight till 31 December 2020.

However, a number of restrictions have been reintroduced.
