There are some important changes applied by ATO. you should be aware of those changes before you lodge your tax return for the coming year.
There are list of changes which is described below:
JobKeeper
Employees
If you want to seek jobkeeker payment, you just need to prove that your company turnover falls at 30% or more. So your employer is eligible to seek jobkeeper payments from your employer.
Once you start to receive JobKeeper payments from ATO, you need to be included on your income statement as salary or government allowances in your tax return.
If you are pre-filled in your tax return once finalised by your employer in your income statement. Tax Agents have authority to access your information on behalf of you.
Sole traders
Company‘s sole traders who have business turnover falls from 30% or more are also eligible to seek JobKeeper payments from the government. Please note that you need to disclose payments as assessable income in your return.
JobSeeker
If you are between 22 and Age Pension age and you are resident here and meet residence rules, you are eligible to get JobSeeker payments from ATO.
The new jobSeeker payment was replaced with a certain centrelink payment by ATO from 20 March 2020.
You can see the centrelink payment have two different types of payment summary for both the earlier payments and new jobseeker payments.
